Summer Camp at Dadar 16th & 17th May 2018

CSA with its networking partner Salvation Centre for Community Organization held a two day summer camp at Dadar on the 16^th & 17^th May 2018. Twenty three children from various communities across Dadar participated in the camp.

For the first day the resource person Ms. Clipsy Banji conducted a session on ‘Behaviour Management’. She took an interactive session with the use of various games.

She explained the children how they would generally react to various situations and how they must portray themselves with their good behavior at various levels and phases of life.

On the second day Ms. Darshana Souz, CCO staff conducted a session on “Personality development” with the use of games and action songs. She explained the method by which in difficult situations one should overcome their weaknesses and turn it to their strength.

The main focus of the summer camp was to provide social and personal values to children through these sessions. Children have actively and whole heartedly participated in the program.

LEGAL AID WORKSHOP FOR COMMUNITY WORKERS 16th Nov 2017

A one day workshop (5th Capacity session) was conducted by CSA on the 16^th of November 2017 at Dadar Salvation Church Hall, Mumbai. The topic was legal rights with a specific focus on the Domestic Violence(DV) Act (2005). The resource persons for the workshop Adv. Bharat Kale was an activist & offers legal services, legal awareness trainings and also works at policy level interventions, public interest litigations, etc. The 30 participants were representatives of various Community based organizations. 

The session was very interesting for the participants as most of them knew a thing or two about the DV Act; however, there were still several misconceptions and questions regarding the same which were aptly addressed by Bharat Kale. He spoke about the Rights of a Woman at a Police Station, filing of Zero FIRs, things to keep in mind when filling an FIR, on ways to communicate with the Police, and other small tips that social workers could use in various cases. Also he explained the governing system as well as fundamental & human rights. Although the workshop was a short one the participants felt empowered with more knowledge and information that they could take back to the community and their homes. Feedback from the participants was positive with a stress on more sessions on other laws as well.

Setting Oneself Free! - Stress Management Workshop for Domestic Workers 7-7-17

Under Basic Skill Self Enhancement program; Centre for Social Action along with Partner organization Salvation Community Centre has organized the 3^rd session on Stress management on 7^th July 2017. 

A total 21 domestic workers (women) actively attended the session. Dr. Evelet Sequeira was the resource person; who conducted the session and shared 3 techniques of stress management – Learn to be stress free i.e. Breathing technique, Sound technique and Dance technique.

The Resource person also shared the story of an elephant who is tied to a chain. The Elephant still believes that the rope can still hold him, so he will never try to break free.” The visit to the zoo was amazed to note that these animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were. Like the elephants, many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before? Failure is part of learning; we should never give up the struggle in life.

After the end of the session one of the women expressed all her emotions in front of the whole group and at then at the end all 8 women individually meet with the resource person to discuss about their personal issues to get solutions on the same.

Let’s Learn Creativity Of Craft Articles With Salvation Community Centre. Dadar - 19th to 21st Nov, 2015

Salvation Community Centre, Dadar Ms Sunita Borkar and Ms Rasika Bhandari organized  a three day Diwali camp program on the 19^th, 20^th & 21^st November 2015, for the community children of women  who belong to SHG’s and House Workers groups.

A total of 24 children participated. Ms Angeline Pereira & Ms Melita Pereira were the resource persons for the three day program. The event topic was flower making and card decoration.

On 19^th and 20th   November children learnt to making flowers & flower bouquets of different shapes and colors by using duplex paper.  On the 21^st November children learnt to make envelopes & card designs.

The children learnt to receive various good skills of arts and other crafts articles through this event.
